Job Description:
This position is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions within the organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. As Controller, you will play a crucial role in financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, and forecasting processes. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with other departments to provide strategic insights and support decision-making.

This is not a remote or hybrid position. Starting pay will depend on skills, experience, and education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of financial management, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to provide insights into the company’s financial health.
  • Monitor financial performance and key metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to optimize profitability.
  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Drive strategic financial planning and analysis to support business decisions and maximize profitability.
  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial risk to optimize liquidity and mitigate financial threats.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, growth and development, and continuous improvement.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, where team members are empowered to contribute their ideas and expertise.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence in all aspects of the job.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions, including invoicing, bill payments, journal entries, and reconciliation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with departments to support operational efficiency and drive business growth.
  • Manage relationships with banking partners and other financial institutions, including negotiating terms for loans, lines or credit, and other financing arrangements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop business cases for investment decisions and strategic initiatives.
  • Conduct regular audits of financial data and processes to identify discrepancies, error, or areas of improvement.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with leadership to develop realistic and achievable financial targets.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial forecasts to support decision-making and resource allocation efforts.
  • Monitor budget variances and provide analysis to management, recommending adjustments or corrective actions as necessary.
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with GAAP principles.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Prepare and file tax returns accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate and facilitate audits by external auditors. Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor inquiries in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably in the manufacturing or lumber/building materials industry.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP principles, financial reporting, and accounting software (e.g., Great Plains).
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and integrity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
